Damp is the "death knell" of many Touring Caravans. Water ingress can take place in the most obscure place and lead to a huge amount of damage.
Caravan construction is based upon a wooden floor, wooden wall, window and roof battens covered internally with a thin wall board and externally an aluminium skin.
Each external joined is then sealed with an appropriate sealant either flexible to allow movement or solid for strength.
It is these joints and the window seals that will tend to allow water to penetrate the shell of the caravan over time. These can be resealed as necessary once identified.
A damp meter is used in the first instance to build up a picture of the areas that are damp.
Dismantling of the affected section then takes place where by the extent of the damage can be clearly seen.
Every PC Caravans service includes a full damp test complete with a written report with any remedial action necessary highlighted.

Regular inspections by the caravan owner help in the fight against a damp .
Initial symptoms of damp within a caravan are a "musty" smell, spongy wall or ceiling board.
If you suspect the presence of damp take action immediately do not leave it. Damp will spread quickly.
